Set to open in the Laforet department store in Tokyo’s Harajuku district, the namesake boutique is decorated to resemble a mom-and-pop sundries store in the Japanese Showa period, and will carry the creative maestro’s own HUMAN MADE®, BILLIE IDLE® and DOUBTFUL AS DOUBLE® labels, as well as his adidas Originals by NIGO collaborative line.
Having left A Bathing Ape in 2013, NIGO has since voiced his yearning to return to the Harajuku fashion scene. Following the revamp of Laforet’s Harajuku location, NIGO saw the perfect opportunity to reestablish his presence in the birthplace of the infamous Ura-Harajuku movement — a sensible move given Laforet’s proximity to his COLD COFFEE outlet and CURRY UP® restaurant.
